Volleyball Advanced Club By-Laws

 
LAGUNA WOODS VILLAGE
VOLLEYBALL ADVANCED CLUB BY-LAWS
Effective 1/08/2023

ARTICLE I- NAME


The name of the club shall be the VOLLEYBALL ADVANCED CLUB, herein referred to as the Club.

ARTICLE II- OBJECTIVE


The objective of the Club is to promote the sport of volleyball, fun, fitness, and competition for resident players of Laguna Woods Village with like
abilities.

ARTICLE III -MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1: Membership in the Club shall be open all qualified Laguna Woods Village residents and guests who meet the posted Volleyball Advanced Club skills requirements.  There will be a skills assessment by Club members who are present, and a one month trial period.  If the majority of Club members approve after the trial period, membership will be granted.

Section 2: To join the Club, eligible players will provide the Club with an ANNUAL completed membership form and waiver agreement.

​

Section 3: There are no membership dues.

​

Section 4: ALL Club members and guests will follow the Volleyball Advanced Club House Rules and Code of Conduct (see Club Info).

​

Section 5: ALL Club members will follow the GRF and Laguna Woods Recreation Policies, Procedures, and Operating Rules.

​

Section 6: The Club will follow the Recreation Guest Policy.

 
ARTICLE IV- AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVES

Section 1: The Volleyball Advanced Club will have 2-3 Recreation Department Authorized Representatives.

​

Section 2: These are volunteer positions.  There will be no elections.

​

Section 3: These representatives will interact with Laguna Woods Recreation on behalf of the Club.

​

ARTICLE V- PLAY DAYS

Section 1: For safety and game quality, play days will be based on SKILL level. ​

​

Section 2: ADVANCED LEVEL play days and times will be jointly determined by the Authorized Representatives and Laguna Woods Recreation with eligibility to play  Advanced determined by the Club.

​

Section 3: The Club will assess players’ abilities and eligibility by observation during games and may use other evaluation tools. Remember, skill level play is for the SAFETY of the players and QUALITY of play.

​

Section 4: Players must accept their specific Club assessment. Other club members may ask for a reevaluation of players whose skill level has deteriorated by written request to the Club.

 

ARTICLE VI- CLUB MEETINGS

 

Section 1: The Club will determine the number of meetings, if they will be held in person or through email, as needed. Appropriate notification of meetings will be given.

​

Section 2: Robert’s Rules of Order will govern all meetings.

 

ARTICLE VII- AMENDMENTS TO BYLAWS

Amendments to By-Laws may be proposed by Club members at a meeting or via email for discussion and a vote of the Club.
