The annual Village Games, organized once again by Sam B., brought together twenty enthusiastic players eager to showcase their talents and enjoy friendly rivalry. This event not only tested athletic ability but also fostered connections among neighbors through a well-planned and engaging tournament.
This year, the event was organized to ensure balanced teams with a mix of setters, hitters, and passers. To keep the process fair and exciting, classic red, white, and blue poker chips were used to randomly assign players to teams. This method added an element of surprise and fun, while also ensuring that each team had a good blend of skills.
The teams were:
Blue Team: Bob A., Patricio, Patty, Hamid, Simon, Phim, and Eric
White Team: Ping, Eddie Y., Kevin T., Pari, Reza, Eddie Z.
Red Team: Mark Z., Marty, Gabi, Jimmy, Ning, Kat, and Sam B.
The tournament culminated in a thrilling final playoff between the Red and White teams. Both teams had shown strong performances throughout the day, making the final match a highly anticipated event. The game was intense, with both sides exchanging points and demonstrating excellent teamwork.
In the end, the White Team edged out the Red Team in a close 15-point playoff, securing the gold medal, siilver went to Red Team and the Blue Team taking the bronze.
